Recommendations aimed at promoting accessibility were handed over to the Shirak Region Governor

The package of recommendations developed within the framework of “Barrier-free realization of electoral rights of persons with disabilities in Shirak Region” project aimed at promoting political and civic participation of persons with disabilities and making the electoral processes more inclusive and accessible was handed over to Nazeli Baghdasaryan, the Shirak Region Governor.

During the Governor’s visit to “Agate” NGO, the project Manager Rosa Avagyan presented to her the activities implemented with the framework of the project, as well as the purpose of the developed recommendations. Highlighting the importance of the political and civic participation of persons with disabilities, the Governor mentioned that they would take into consideration the presented recommendations in decision making process.

The recommendations were developed during the workshop implemented with the participation of 21 persons with disabilities.

The meeting took place within the framework of the “Barrier-free realization of electoral rights of persons with disabilities in Shirak Region” sub-grant project which is implemented “Agate” Rights Defense Center For Women With Disabilities NGO within the framework of the “Elections4All-2021 – Domestic Observations and Citizens Empowerment by Civil Society” project. The Project is implemented by OxYGen Foundation, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly – Vanadzor, Union of Informed Citizens and Yerevan School of Political Studies. The Project is funded by the European Union.
