Organizations of persons with disabilities join efforts as a powerful Coalition protecting human rights

On January 21st, with the participation of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, a three-day workshop has launched aimed at planning the Strategy of the Coalition for Inclusive Legal Reforms. Representatives from Coalition member organizations, working in different spheres of public life in order to protect the rights of persons with disabilities participate in the workshop. The workshop is held within the framework of the EU-funded “Towards Inclusive Armenia” project.

“Today, representatives of organizations and individuals working for many years for the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities in Armenia joined together in one place in order to have their contribution in the development of the Coalition Strategic Plan. The project is aimed at the institutional development of the Coalition, and by starting to work on the strategy, we are building a strong base for the project activities which will be implemented by the Coalition”, “Agate” NGO Project Officer, “Towards Inclusive Armenia” project officer Gayane Grigoryan says.

Mushegh Hovsepyan, Coordinator of the Coalition highlighted the importance of the strategy for  the institutional development and sustainability of the Coalition. “The development of the strategy will enable the Coalition to contribute to the implementation of inclusive reforms in Armenia in an even more coordinated way. One of the guarantees of the effectiveness of the strategy is that it is developed on a participatory basis; it will be implemented involving as many people and organizations as possible», he says.

The Coalition for Inclusive Legal Reforms is an informal union of organizations and individuals, which was founded in 2017 on the initiative of “Agate” NGO. It includes 15 organizations and 5 individuals protecting and advocating for the rights of people with disabilities.
