At the suggestion of the Coalition for Inclusive Legal Reforms and with the support of Taguhi Tovmasyan, the Chairperson of RA NA Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, we had a meeting with Kristinne Grigoryan, candidate for the position of Human Rights Defender of Armenia.
After the opening speech of the Committee Chairperson Taguhi Tovmasyan, the Coordinator of the Coalition Mushegh Hovsepyan presented the activities of the Coalition, afterwards, the Coalition members touched upon current issues related to the ratification of the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, accessibility of the Human Rights Defender’s Office, creation of accessibility monitoring mechanisms, as well as to the rights of deaf and hard of hearing persons, promotion of accessible education, and deinstitutionalization.
The candidate for the position of Human Rights Defender touched upon the issues raised by the Coalition members and presented her own attitudes, expressing her willingness to support the solution of those issues in case she is elected.
The Coalition of Inclusive Legal Reforms will support the efforts to protect the rights of persons with disabilities and continue to monitor the activities of all state bodies.
The meeting took place within the framework of the “Towards Inclusive Armenia” project. The project is implemented by “Agate” Rights Defense Center for Women with Disabilities on behalf of the Coalition for Inclusive Legal Reforms. The Project is funded by the European Union.
