Today, International Day Of Persons With Disabilities (IDPD) a special event was held to amplify the leadership of persons with disabilities and promote their inclusion in society. Organized by UNFPA and “Agate” NGO, the event featured a diverse program that highlighted the talents, potential, and challenges faced by people with disabilities.
The event kicked off with the premiere of the thought-provoking performance “Beyond the Shadows” by the Gyumri Reflection Theater. This powerful production shed light on the often-overlooked experiences of individuals with disabilities.
A captivating photo exhibition titled “Leadership and Inclusion Begin with Us” showcased the achievements and aspirations of people with disabilities. The exhibition aimed to inspire and demonstrate that disability is not a barrier to success.
A special presentation summarizing media coverage on disability issues was also held, highlighting the importance of accurate and sensitive reporting.
The event was attended by representatives of state administration, local self-government, and international organizations, who expressed their commitment to promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
The event was initiated by the UNFPA and “Agate” NGO within the framework of “ATHENA: Advancing the Human Rights Agenda and Enhancing National Authorities” Project. The Project is co-funded by the European Union and is implemented by UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF.
Media awards ceremony was carried out within the framework of the “Leading Equality and Access for Disabilities” project. The Project is funded by the European Union and implemented by World Vision Armenia, Full Life NGO, “Agate” NGO and Source Foundation.
