The goal of the project was to enhance awareness of young girls and women with disabilities on their rights, to encourage and stimulate them to live with independent and active lives and change public attitude towards women with disabilities through increasing their visibility in Gyumri and Shirak Region. One of the goals of the project was to enhance awareness on the “Convention on the Rights of PersonsWith Disabilities” (CRPD). Five beneficiaries of our Centre, who had successfully accomplished training courses of the previous project, were involved in this project as staff members.
Within the framework of the project the following trainings were organized
- Career orientation
- English language
- Computer operating
- Handicrafts
- Leadership trainings for all beneficiaries, parallel to the activities of the career orientation groups. Trainings included the following themes
- Project planning and proposal writing
- Fundraising success stories and strategies
- Healthcare
- Parenting
- Prevention of domestic violence
- Self-defence
- Family planning, HIV/AIDS
- Work with mass media
- Organized and conducted different cultural events
- celebrating different traditional holidays
- Intellectual game-competitions
- Physical rehabilitation therapy
- Excursion-entertainments out of the centre
At the end all project beneficiaries were given certificates for participation in the trainings.
