Access to Rights and Justice

[su_spoiler title=”The goal of the project” style=”fancy” icon=”chevron”]The goal of the project is advancing human and legal rights protection of persons with disabilities in Armenia through awareness raising and advocacy. The purpose of the project is to promote education and awareness raising of persons with disabilities on human rights mechanisms and Armenian disability related legislation, and insure their inclusion, full participation and independent living through advocacy and education by organizing workshops between Human Rights Defender’s staff, disability rights advocates and persons with disabilities. The project aims to strengthen the capacities of the RA Human Rights Defender’s office staff by organizing a workshop on disability ethics to communicate with persons with different types of disabilities and teaching them the most necessary words for communication, and legal and human rights words in Armenian sign language to communicate with deaf beneficiaries. [su_spoiler title=”Planned actions” style=”fancy” icon=”chevron”]30 persons with different types of disabilities will be selected from the Northern regions of Armenia, mainly from Shirak, Lori and Tavush regions to participate in the project activities, trainings and workshops. 20 lawyers from the capital Yerevan and different urban and rural regions of Armenia will be selected to participate in the training on international human rights mechanisms and obligations from disability perspective, Armenian disability lasws and decrees, disability ethics and the most necessary sign language words for communication, and words relating to legal and human rights in Armenian sign language to communicate with deaf beneficiaries. 5 staff members of the RA Human Rights Defender’s office will participate in the training on the disability ethics, and teaching them the words most necessary for communication, as well as words relating to legal and human rights in Armenian sign language to be able to communicate with deaf beneficiaries.
